Radio package including radio and parts needed for installation

If you would rather purchase the parts separately they are listed below.

 

1. Radio wiring harness (cars without factory navigation)

This harness connects to your factory wiring to allow you to instal lan aftermarket radio.  It also has the electronics to translate your factory steering wheel controls for use with a new radio.

The steering wheel control programmer is needed to tell the wiring harness what radio you are installing. 

Radio wiring harness (without steering wheel controls)

If your car did not have steering wheel controls you can skip the two above and use this harness.

2. Plug and Play Converter (optional but strongly recommended)

Converts the connector on harness 1 into a connection specific to your radio.

3. Radio Mounting Kit

This part holds a standard radio in place and fills the gaps around the radio for a factory finish.  It is painted to match the factory dashboard. This fits all factory navigation and non navigation radios. Because of the factory airbox the radio must be a shallow radio or have a top rear chassis.

4. Climate control relocation kits

If your radio did not have factory navigation then the climate control is right below the radio.  In order to install a double din radio you will need to install this part to relocate the climate control down to where the sunglass pocket currently is.

There are two different factory panels in the BMW so we make 2 different relocation kits.  The XAV1 has all the buttons on one big opening.  The XAV5 has 5 different openings and in some cases only has one hole.

We made this custom USB port to fit in our relocation kits.

5. AM/FM Antenna adapter

This adapter converts the factory connector.  It is also the correct color for easier installation.

6. Aftermarket Microphone for factory location (optional)

Every E46 has a factory microphone location in the overhead lights.  You can put this microphone in place of the factory one for use with your new radio.  If you have a convertible with the mic in the steering column use the mic-BM2

7. Panel Pry Tools

These tools come in handy when removing the cars interior trim.

Radios

Because the factory radio floats over the factory air conditioning tubes you cannot fit a standard double din radio in your car.  These are the radios we recommend for your car.
