Emil a previous customer came in with his new 2024 Audi S5 with base audio looking for a speaker upgrade. I recommended we install a small plug and play 50×4 Kicker Key 200.4 amplifier. It connects behind the radio receiver in the glove box using are plug and play harness that includes power. Customer couldn’t believe how much the better the amplifier made the factory speakers sound. He’s going to enjoy the new sound for a little while and is coming back at a later date to install new speakers.
Once the amp was installed Emil asked about putting a sub in the trunk. I recommended that he try a Kicker 6.75″ Sub Powered by a kicker Key 500.1 Mono amplifire that puts out 150W at 4 Ohm. It also has a sound processor with bass restoration. The KEY 5600.1 automatically analyzes the audio being fed into the amplifier. Once this signal has been analyzed, the amp will automatically fix peaks in the signal coming in and restore the low bass that is typically missing to protect the cheap factory sub. In a matter of moments, you get a clean, even bass response from your amp! He was blown away by the bass the little sub puts out and is no longer wants to add a box.
1. Factory Sub, 2. Kicker sub in factory enclosure, 3. The factory sub is under the spare tire touching the rear of the trunk.
This pictures shows the glove box taken down. The small box at the top of the picture if the radio brain. Once removed our plug and play amplifier (below) connects between this box and the factory wiring.
